Were back and loaded with new energy and ideas!!! We got our dose of wonderful south Italy and Puglia. Now I know what I want to do when I am 50, buy a Masseria or a little Trullo down there and open a small b&b… What a dream!!!
But now lets get our house here in Sweden ready first!!!
After 10 days of absence from the old house, a lot of things has happened. Some new walls are up, the basement floor is now moulded and ready for some floor heating. This beautiful wall came out today in the guest room in the basement, lovely right? They were just about to tear it down when I spotted it, now its saved…. Nobody touch my wall;)
I´m imagining it with a old brass bed in front of the wall, with some of the antic lace bed linen i got in Pulia… Sweet dreams my friends!!
What a night we had, not very Swedish at all.. no wind jackets, no herring but pasta/prosecco picnic and swimming in the sea!
That the italian life style is all about the food is nothing new, fresh veggies and fruit all day long!
Whats better than eating figs and apricots directly from the three?
After a long an hot day in the shade under the apricot tree by the pool, I brought the kids out in the plantation to help prepare for dinner;)
It really is something magic about this place… the kids finished ALL their veggies today;)
Just learned the best and most fun technique to go fishing!
All you need is:
a glass jar
a small clothe with a hole
and some fishing luck;)
The kids were thrilled and the fish was tasty;)
The girls are in perfect midsummer mood, I decided that we will have a small midsummer party down here in Puglia, I´ll change the famous herring to “alici marinati” and who wants potatoes when there is homemade pasta, strawberries there are plenty. We need some snaps, beer, wildflowers and “smågrodorna” to get the right Swedish midsummer vibe! Then best of all is….. It´s NOT raining!!!!
I jumped two meters high at the market when I spotted this antic sarcedot blouse with the most amacing lace you can imagine! Cleo is in her new little outfit as well found for the big amount of 1 euro!!!
love flee markets… taking another tour Saturday;)
Yesterday I woke up by the alarm at 6.30, left my small sleeping angels with daddy and headed over to the main kitchen where I was hit by the loveliest smell you can imagine, home made bread and warm apricot marmalade. Picked some fresh menta on the way for my morning infusion, aaaaaaaah this is the way I want to have my breakfast everyday!!
We left early knowing we had a looong morning in front of us…
Mercato Pugliese in Manduria!
I was looking for antik bed sheet of linen and I found some pretty amazing hand made once with beautiful lace for no money at all. I had the fortune to have Maria-Grazia the expert guide with an incredible eye for beautiful antics and she was not afraid to bargain;)
The best bargain i got today was 10 euros for a stunning antic sarcedote lace shirt (it´s in the laundry now) I will post it later!!
Damiano was not happy when I came home with two more suitcases full of linen, kids clothes and porcelain… We had 600 euros of overweight when we came down from Rome…
After a couple of hours with 3 bags full, we headed happily over to the little village Grottaglie. Here I just lost it, sooooooo much beautiful ceramics and porcelain in every corner!!
The best of all was to visit the small workshops where all the incredible artists were creating, it´s like time has been standing still.
I just couldn’t resist, had to get two of the typical fortune pines… they will be perfect out open fireplace in Sweeden.
I have been looking for a new service for a long time now, just never knew what I wanted, until now. I couldn’t buy it this time though, and they won’t ship so now I have a very good reason to come back!!
An hour flight from Rome and another hour lost in the middle of the olive fields and the sea, we finally arrived to our destination…
When we stepped out of the car Tiago said;
Mum it´s like a dream!
I can not in words express the beauty of this place… the light, the details, the food, the landscape and the hospitality… We are just enjoying with all our senses and I hope you can get a little feeling of the southern dream we are living for these 10 days;)
I´m still pinching my arm once in awhile just to check… am I dreaming?
Left our big building project and the dust in Malmö and came down to next renovation in Rome..
With even more dust!
We had a visit at the kids old school, a quick meeting, got a tan by the pool, shopping, aperitif with favourite friends in fun trousers at Salotto42, pizza Margherita, wild taxi tours on bumpy roman streets…
